Selling an insurance policy is the first step in building a relationship with your policyholders. With so many options within the insurance industry, why not offer value-added services to support them, retain their business and help them avoid claims?

The spring season presents a unique opportunity to connect with your insureds on risk management because the weather is warming up in many areas across the U.S. Warmer weather is often an indicator of increased outdoor exposures across many industries. To help address those exposures, all USLI customers and policyholders have free access to our Business Resource Center, which offers a suite of value-added services that save the insured time and money. The Business Resource Center includes a special Safety and Loss Control area that helps policyholders mitigate their risk, not just in the spring, but any time of year.

Restaurants in particular maximize opportunity during warmer weather because they can expand their services to include outdoor dining. Starting in the spring, we also expect to see a rise in the number of outdoor events, which means food trucks are sure to be on the move. We offer two educational articles for these business owners:

Other exposures that increase as the temperatures rise include those relating to swimming pools, fireworks and fire pit/grill operation. The following two articles provide information on pool safety guidelines, safeguards for fireworks and safety tips for fire pits and grills:

Finally, the spring season also signals the time of year when many youth sports camps and leagues begin. While no one can predict what can go wrong during a game or practice, taking necessary precautions can help stop or reduce some of the most common claims from occurring. We offer discounted CPR and First Aid training and a free sample waiver of liability; we’ve also aggregated several online resources on concussions that you and your insureds can reference at any time.

If you have questions about this topic, please feel free to reach out to Susan Cianciola, Second Vice President and Loss Control Team Leader. We encourage you to share these safety tips with your insureds to help build your relationship with them and be proactive in keeping their business safe.
