Couple embracing celebrating October Together

This year has presented many challenges that affect how we work, socialize and take care of ourselves. With regard to breast cancer care, COVID-19 has impacted patients tremendously; many feel more isolated and fearful and have worsened anxiety levels. The pandemic has also prevented individuals from getting routine health checks, such as mammograms.

Headshot of Tom NerneyThis year, I’m proud to announce October Together, a month filled with virtual events intended to bring us all together and break down the walls of isolation. We need to remind each other to take good care of ourselves and to support those who need it most, and we hope to achieve that during October Together. And though our efforts might look a little different this year, our determination and commitment to make a difference remains unchanged.

During October Together, we will host fitness and wellness classes, a cooking class, a mixology class, a variety show, online auctions and much more. All of these events are virtual so that you can support this cause from the comfort of your own home. Invite your family, friends and co-workers to participate in some or all of the events as well.

We’re also excited to offer an exclusive presentation by Dr. Marisa Weiss, founder of Breastcancer.org, on October 7 at 12 p.m. Eastern time. I invite all of you to register for this session and join Dr. Weiss for COVID-19: Battling a Global Pandemic While Fighting Breast Cancer.

All proceeds from October Together will go to Breastcancer.org as they continue helping patients and families navigate the difficulties of a breast cancer diagnosis. They have also been working diligently to provide up-to-date information on COVID-19 and how it has impacted breast cancer care. I encourage you to watch the short 5-minute video below to learn more about the impact the pandemic has had on breast cancer patients and why it’s so important for us to bring attention to this cause.

We will also continue our 1 Month, 1 Percent, 1 Fight initiative throughout the entire month of October. This is your chance to simply do what you do best – sell insurance. We will donate 1% of all new business premium to Breastcancer.org; keep in mind that with each policy you sell, you’re making a difference.

As you know, this is a unique time, but it gives us all the opportunity to unite for a tremendous cause. I encourage you to visit pink.usli.com to learn more about all of our events, and I hope you and your family are staying safe and well.

Warm regards,
