Sales are dropping for some of America’s largest beer producers — so who is keeping the beer industry afloat?

In a slightly down beer market, small and independent breweries saw growth in 2018. According to the Brewers Association, the craft beer market grew to $27.6 billion last year, which was a 7% increase from 2017 and accounted for 13.2% of the market share.

Craft breweries are succeeding because they offer customers a unique experience. These operations sell small-batch craft beer in a fun, relaxed environment. Whether they have tastings, music, food trucks or games like cornhole, they are stepping up your average bar experience.

These local operations are a great fit for USLI’s Brewery product. Product features include:

  • Commercial package with property, general liability and liquor liability
  • Equipment breakdown, spoilage, power outage and business income
  • Assault or battery coverage
  • Off-premises events
  • Retail or take out and wholesale distribution

Our competitive advantages include:

  • New ventures
  • Up to 100% alcohol sales
  • Bouncers and major entertainment
  • Outdoor games

USLI has over 30 years of experience in the liquor liability industry, which enables us to create new products based on feedback from our customers. Breweries have more unique coverage needs than your average bar. We recognized these needs and used them to create our comprehensive Brewery product.

Our ability to provide off-premises events coverage is perfect for breweries, as so many of them take part in community events. In addition, we understand that not all alcohol consumption takes place on premises; we can include coverage for takeout sales, such as growlers or six packs, and wholesale distribution.

Overall, the craft and independent beer market is continuing to grow. There are around 7,500 craft breweries in the U.S., and that number is projected to increase in coming years. When you’re thinking of USLI for your next bar or restaurant risk, give us a shot at a brewery risk as well. We’ll tap out our best coverage.
